Call for submissions: Golden Quill Award


The Toronto Screenwriting Conference has partnered with Telefilm Canada to present the Golden Quill Award. Twelve awards will be presented to emerging screenwriters across the country. Half of those awards will be presented to diverse screenwriters. Those who are selected to receive and award will be given a complimentary registration to the Conference, a value of up to $369 + HST.

To apply, you need to have written a couple of short films of which one has been produced. You also need to have written longer work that hasn't yet been produced – either a feature-length screenplay or else a television treatment or pilot. The deadline for applications for the Golden Quill Award is Monday, February 6.

The 3rd Annual Toronto Screenwriting Conference takes place on the weekend of March 31 and April 1 at Ryerson University's Ted Rogers School of Management in downtown Toronto. Registration is open now with an early bird rate until February 19.

TELEFILM CANADA Golden Quill Award

The TELEFILM CANADA Golden Quill is awarded to twelve emerging screenwriters across Canada. The award provides complimentary registration to the Toronto Screenwriting Conference 2012. Six of the twelve registrations will be awarded to diverse screenwriters.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Canadian citizen or Landed Immigrant

  • Must have written 2 short films of which 1 has been produced

  • Must have written 1 feature length screenplay or TV series treatment/pilot

  • Must NOT have a produced feature or TV series/ pilot

  • Emerging screenwriters should complete the application below and be sure to explain how the Golden Quill will assist in their professional development.
