Quentin Tarantino’s best and worst films of 2011

Quentin Tarantino has released a list of his picks for the best and worst of 2011. As you would expect from one who has such diverse tastes as Tarantino, the list is a bit all over the place. Surprisingly though, there is a scarcity of foreign films.

From his top eleven (really twelve, since there's a tie for the tenth spot), Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris comes out on top. Other awards-season contenders on the list are Moneyball and The Artist. But he includes films that have not been strong candidates thus far such as X-Men: First ClassOur Idiot Brother and The Three Musketeers.

His list of runners-up include films that received poor reviews. Both "Green" films, Green Hornet and Green Lantern, make an appearance. So too does the deplorable The Hangover Part II.

The "Nice Try" category has films that you'd expect him to like. You'd think that Drive especially would be right down his alley, since it's an action film done in the style of a spaghetti western, rather like Kill Bill: Vol. 2.

His Best Director list contains no surprises and wouldn't seem much different that anyone else's. His Best Screenplay lists are more varied, while his list of Worst Films includes the highly regarded films Potiche (Trophy Wife), Rampart and Meek's Cutoff.
