Golden Eagle Awards for Russian Cinema - winners


Tonight, the Национальная Академия кинематографических искусств и наук России (National Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences of Russia) held their 10th annual премия Золотой Орёл (Golden Eagle Awards) at the First Pavilion of Mosfilm in Moscow.

Елена (Elena) by Андрей Звягинцев (Andrei Zvyagintsev) led the field, taking four awards in the categories of Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Supporting Actress for Елена Лядова (Yelena Lyadova). It had led with ten nominations. Previously, Елена won the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize at Cannes and lead actress Надежда Маркина (Nadezhda Markina) won the Best Actress award at the 5th Annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

Мастер и Маргарита (The Master and Margarita) by Юрий Кара (Yuri Kara) also picked up four awards. They were for the more technical areas of Art Direction, Costume Design, Editing and Sound Editing.

Two films were double prize-winners. Два дня (Two Days) nabbed both of the lead acting categories with Best Actress going to Ксения Раппопорт (Kseniya Rappoport) and Федор Бондарчук (Fyodor Bondarchuk) taking Best Actor. Дом (Home) won Best Supporting Actor for Богдан Ступка (Bogdan Stupka) and Best Music.

In the Television section, Достоевский (Dostoyevsky) dominated. It took Best TV Movie or Mini-Series as well as the acting awards for Валентина Талызина (Valentina Talyzina) and Евгений Миронов (Yevgeny Mironov).

The winner for Best Foreign Film was Tom Hooper's The King's Speech, the previous Oscar-winner. It had been up against Lars von Trier's Melancholia and Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan.

An Honourary Award was presented to veteran actor Валентин Гафт (Valentin Gaft) for his contributions to cinema.
