2012 Tony Awards – nominations


The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing have announced the nominees for their 66th Annual Tony Awards for Excellence in the Theatre.

The musical adaptation based on the film Once led the nominations with a total of eleven. They included Best Musical, Director, Actor, Actress and Choreographer.

Close behind with ten nominations each were the musicals The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess - 10and Nice Work If You Can Get It. The revival of Jesus Christ Superstar which originated in Stratford, Ontario managed to pick up two mentions.

Peter and the Starcatcher led the plays with nine nominations.

The Tony Awards will take place on June 10th at the Beacon Theatre in New York. Neil Patrick Harris returns as host.
