International 3D Society's 2012 3D Creative Arts Awards - winners


The International 3D Society recognized "distinguished achievement" in the 3D creative arts at a black-tie ceremony held at the Beverly Hills hotel in Los Angeles, presenting 28 trophies known as Lumiere statuettes.

Martin Scorsese's Hugo was the biggest winner with three awards for Best Live Action 3D Feature, Best Stereography -- Live Action, and Best 3D Moment of the Year. In addition, director Martin Scorsese received the Society's Harold Lloyd Filmmaker Award, presented to him by Lloyd's granddaughter Suzanne Lloyd.

The Documentary award winner was Werner Herzog's Cave of Forgotten Dreams but fellow German Wim Wenders was given a special "Jury Prize" for Excellence for his innovative work on Pina.

Animated Film winners were The Adventures of Tintin which won Best Animated 3D Feature, Puss In Boots with Best Stereography - Animation, and The Lion King which won Best 2D to 3D Conversion.

Sony Corporation of America was presented with the Sir Charles Wheatstone Award for Education at its Sony 3D Technology Center in Culver City, CA.

The International 3D Society is a community of professionals dedicated to the advancement of the art and sciences of stereoscopic 3D technologies and content through education, hands on demonstration and celebration.
