2012 JUNO Awards for Canadian Music - nominees


The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) has announced the nominees for the 2012 Juno Awards at a press conference in Toronto this morning. It was also revealed that Canadian icon William Shatner will host The 2012 JUNO Awards ceremony.

A number of performers led the way with four nominations including 2011 JUNO Awards host Drake. He was nominated for JUNO Fan Choice, Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Rap Recording of the Year. Other four-time nominees were Feist, City and Colour, Hedley, Nickelback and Dan Mangan.

Performers with three nominations were Avril Lavigne, deadmau5 and Michael Bublé.

The 2012 JUNO Award nominees Hedley and Nickelback were added to the lineup of performers for thebroadcast, bringing the total number of performers announced so far to six. They will join 2012 CanadianMusic Hall of Fame inductees Blue Rodeo and 2012 JUNO Award nominees City and Colour, deadmau5 and Feist onstage at this year’s show. More performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences/L'académie canadienne des arts et des sciences de l'enregistrement (CARAS) is a not-for-profit organization created to preserve and enhance the Canadian music and recording industries and to contribute toward higher artistic and industry standards. The main focus of CARAS is the exploration and development of ongoing opportunities to showcase and promote Canadian artists and music through vehicles such as The JUNO Awards and other year-round initiatives.
