CANADIANA-RAMA: The World of Burlesque is HERE

The burlesque scene in Toronto is HOT and with July upon us that only means one thing- everything gets hotter with the 4th annual Toronto Burlesque Festival!

With Canadian talent winning top industry awards around the globe, including the 2010 coveted Burlesque Hall of Fame Queen of Burlesque crown, this year's theme of Canadiana-Rama showcases the best acts up here in the true north strong and free. We have welcomed guests from across the country to show why Canada is setting the standard in burlesque entertainment. Never before has there been such a wide assembly of national talent like this at one festival!

Headlining this year are the two top burlesque artists in the world - Burlesque Hall of Fame Reigning Queen 2011 Miss Indigo Blue (Seattle) and Canada’s own Queen, 2010 Burlesque Hall of Fame winner Roxi D’Lite. A delicious assortment of acts from across Canada are also shaking things up, with performances by Vancouver's Melody Mangler (Best Debut; Burlesque Hall of Fame 2009), members of Halifax's Pink Velvet Burlesque, Montreal's original burlesque troupe, Blue Light Burlesque, Vancouver Burlesque Festival Producer, Burgundy Brixx, Founder of The Montreal Burlesque Festival, Scarlett James, and guests from Ottawa, Calgary and of course, the top talent our city of Toronto has to offer! Don't miss performances by such local legends as Tanya Cheex, duets and solos by Skin Tight Outta Sight, Miss Mitzy Cream, Dew Lily, Boylesque TO, Coco Framboise, Glamour Puss Burlesque, Mahogany Storm, Billie Black and Charlotte Webber (of Les Coquettes), Lucky Minx, Fionna Flauntit, The Saucy Tarts, and of course our Festival Producers, Mysterion the Mind Reader of Great Canadian Burlesque and Founder, Sauci Calla Horra of Skin Tight Outta Sight.

Our incredible friends from around the globe will also be showcasing their talent, with award winning performers from across the U.S.A and as far away as Japan and Australia taking part and tearing things up! International Boylesque sensation Jett Adore (Chicago) has to be seen to be believed as does Japan's Cherry Typhoon. All the way from Australia, Miss Danica Lee will show our audience why she won the Most Classic award two years in a row at the Miss Burlesque Australia Competition. Ruby Joule (Texas) will also show us why she is one of the hottest rising stars in the scene today. The best of NYC treat us with spectacular performances by Trixie Little and The Evil Hate Monkey (as seen on America’s Got Talent; multiple award winners at the Burlesque Hall of Fame), Amber Ray (featured in the upcoming movie, Burlesque Assassins) and Darlinda Just Darlinda (NYC Performance Art Legend). Also attending this year's Festival as our special guest is the First Lady of Burlesque herself, April March. Ms. March headlined at Minsky's coveted shows in the 1950s and performed at the legendary Victory Burlesque Theatre in Toronto before The Beatles performed at Maple Leaf Gardens. Ms. March was just featured in the documentary, Behind the Burly Q, as a Living Legend, well-connected to burlesques heyday.

At this year's Toronto Burlesque Festival, you will see the most scintillating striptease, fabulous group numbers, sexy chanteuses, hilarious hosts and acrobatic aerials that our city, our nation, and indeed the world has to offer! And if you're tempted to learn some of the tricks of the trade from our world-renowned performers, you can also sign up for workshops at our Burlesque University, sponsored by The Coco Framboise School of Burlesque.
