European Union Film Festival Toronto 2012, Nov 14-27


The 8th annual European Union Film Festival Toronto gets underway Wednesday night with a screening of Marinos Kartikkis' Από θαύμα (By Miracle) from Cyprus. As with all films at the festival, admission to the screening is free. Entrance to films is on a first come, first serve basis. Ticket distribution will begin one hour before each screening. One ticket per person.

Other films screening over the next two weeks include Germany's Halt auf freier Strecke (Stopped on Track) by Andreas Dresen, the Czech Republic's Pouta (Walking Too Fast) by Radim Špaček, Sonny Boy by Maria Peters, and Medalia de onoare (Medal of Honour) by Peter Călin Netzer. The Swedish film En enkel till Antibes (A One-Way Ticket to Antibes) by Richard Hobert will screen with the director in attendance, as will the Maltese short film Small, Stupid and Insignificant by Valerie Buhagiar.

Producer Nik Powell will be attending the festival and will present the Neil Jordan films Byzantium and The Crying Game. He will also host a screenwriter masterclass and a producer masterclass at Ryerson University.

All films are for ages 18 and over, and are subtitled in English unless noted. Screenings take place at The Royal Cinema, 608 College Street.
