Arab World Film Festival Of Montreal 2012, Nov 2-4

This weekend brings the Arab World Film Festival Of Montreal, the cinema portion of Le Festival du Monde Arabe de Montréal (Arab World Festival of Montreal).

The opening film will be the Moroccan film Andalousie mon amour (Andalusia, My Love!) by Mohammed Nadif.

The festival continues with screenings of Sur La Planche (On the Edge) by Leila Kilani; Cairo 678 by Mohammed Diab; and a double-bill of It's All In Lebanon by Wissam Charaf followed by Hady Zaccak's Marcedes.

Unique to its genre in North America, the Arab World Festival of Montreal is a thematic event dedicated to the meeting of and dialogue between Arabic and western cultures. Through its three sections - Performing Arts, Culture Forum and Cinema - the FMA presents original productions in dance, music, theatre, and multidisciplinary arts. Dozens of innovations, original creations, performances, screenings, exhibitions, conferences, seminars, as well as a multidisciplinary production, all grouped under an original and topical theme, will be part of an exceptional Fall program. A special feature is Dieu en 3D (God in 3D), a new creation where the three dimensions of the sacred – Jewish, Muslim and Christian – meet, rounding out le Cercle de l’Extase (Circle of Ecstasy), a major FMA hit. Audiences will discover world music headliners and revelations: the illustrious pianist Abdel Rahman El Bacha, master of malouf music Hamdi Benani, the Violons Barbares, Sepideh Raissadat, the Mezrab Ensemble, Zohreh Jooya and the Ensemble afghan.
