2012 Ivor Novello Awards – winners

Tonight at the Grosvenor House, London, the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) and the Performing Right Society (PRS) for Music held their ceremony for the 57th Annual Ivor Novello Awards for excellence in British and Irish songwriting.

The awards were spread around but Adele was a double-winner. She won one of her four nominations with Most Performed Work for Rolling In The Deep and she also picked up a Songwriter of the Year prize.

She lost out on the Album Award to PJ Harvey with Let England Shake. The prize for Best Song Musically & Lyrically went to Ed Sheeran for The A Team. Oddly enough, the Best Contemporary Song went to Lana Del Rey for Video Games, which had caused a stir on Saturday Night Live when she performed it nervously and disastrously.

The surprise winner for Best Film Score was Alex Heffes for The First Grader. He had been up against Jonny Greenwood for We Need To Talk About Kevin and Harry Gregson-Williams and Matthew Herbert for Life In A Day.
