2012 Chlotrudis Awards - winners

The Chlotrudis Society for Independent Film held the ceremony for their 18th Annual Chlotrudis Awards at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

As at the Oscars and many other awards, The Artist come out on top with three awards. It won Best Movie, Production Design and Cinematography.

Films with two awards each were Mike Leigh's Another Year (Best Actress for Lesley Manville and shared Best Performance by an Ensemble Cast), Asghar Farhadi's A Separation ((Best Director and shared Best Performance by an Ensemble Cast), and Canadian Bruce McDonald's Trigger (Best Actress for the late Tracy Wright and Buried Treasure).

Best Actor went to Michael Shannon for Take Shelter while Canadian Christopher Plummer won another Best Supporting Actor prize for The Beginners.

Yet more love for Canadians came in the form of a Hall of Fame award for esteemed writer-director Atom Egoyan. He attended the ceremony with his actress/producer wife Arsinée Khanjian, who received the Society's Chloe Award in 2001.

"Chlotrudis Society for Independent Film serves to honor and support independent and foreign films and their audiences. By distinguishing creative, quality films, the Chlotrudis Society seeks to encourage moviegoers to seek out and support non-mainstream film, to educate audiences on viewing films actively, and to encourage discussion and exchange between those interested in independent film."
