2011 Robert-prisen (Robert Awards) for Danish film - winners

The Danmarks Film Akademi (Danish Film Academy) held their Annual Robert Prisen (Robert Awards) on Sunday night at the Circus Building in Copenhagen. The low-budget prison drama R led the evening with eight wins including Best Picture. It also won Best Director (Tobias Lindholm & Michael Noer), Actor (Pilou Asbæk), Screenplay, Cinematography, Special Effects, Sound and Editing.

Next with five wins, Thomas Vinterberg’s Submarino captured prizes for Supporting Actor (
Peter Plauborg), Production Design, Costume Design, Music and Song.

The Golden Globe winner and Oscar-nominated
Hævnen (In a Better World) by Susanne Bier had received seven nominations, but not for Best Picture. Its lone win of the evening was for Trine Dyrholm who was named Best Actress.

The Documentary award went to the gritty war film Armadillo. They have two non-Danish film awards, one for American films and another for everyone else. The American prize went to Inception, while the Foreign Film Award went to An Education, directed by Danish filmmaker Lone Scherfig.

The Robert was awarded for the first time in 1984. They are named after Danish sculptor Robert Jacobsen, who designed the statuette.
