Enrico Mandirola - LIFT Screening and Artist Talk

The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) is hosting a screening and artist talk tonight. Artist in Residence Enrico Mandirola will screen several of his recent 16mm works and discuss his career and work.

Mandirola is an Italian filmmaker based in Bogota and is coming to the end of his Spring 2011 residency at LIFT.

LIFT is an artist-run production and educational media arts organization and provides independent filmmakers and artists affordable access to equipment, development, training, and other services. It was founded in 1981 by a small collective and has grown to become one of the foremost organizations of its kind globally.

The screening and talk begins at 8pm at CineCycle,129 Spadina Avenue (down the lane).

Enrico Mandirola - Spring 2011 Residency Screening and Artist Talk

Since early March 2011 Bogota based filmmaker Enrico Mandirola has been in residence at LIFT. During his stay Enrico has produced two new films on 16mm in collaboration with LIFT and Niagara Custom Lab. These new films include El cuento a 30 minute 16mm reflection on war and the short A l’aube.

The screening will be followed by an artist talk regarding his film practice, technical methods and experiences producing films in Europe, Latin America and Toronto.

Enrico Mandirola studied cinema at the University of Turin (dams). He lives in Bogota, Colombia where he works and researches methods of experimental cinema. Enrico co-created the first laboratory for handcrafted Super 8mm cinema in Colombia, KinoLab ( He is a member of the Association L’Abominable in Paris, an artist run film laboratory dedicated to the methods of “Argentique” cinema ( He is a member of Cineparallax, a French independent cinema production company, and has collaborated on various film projects as director of photography ( His films have screened at many festivals and galleries such as the Torino Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, Mexicali Video Gallery, and the Centre George Pompidou.
