WITH FIFTH ANNUAL GREAT DIGITAL FILM FESTIVAL

Event brings sci-fi, action and cult classics to Cineplex theatres across Canada

January 7, 2014 – Back by popular demand, The Great Digital Film Festival returns to Cineplex theatres from January 31 to February 6, 2014.

The Great Digital Film Festival brings a week of fan favourite sci-fi, action and cult films back to the big screen, where they were meant to be seen – often for the first time in crystal clear digital format.

The festival expands again this year, with Cineplex’s Front Row Centre events adding locations at Cineplex Odeon Gardiners Road Cinemas in Kingston, ON; Cineplex Cinemas Park Lane in Halifax, Nova Scotia andCineplex Cinemas Avalon Mall Cinemas in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

On February 1, 2014, audiences can participate in a day-long superhero marathon, with screenings of Superman (1978), Spiderman (2002), Iron Man (2008), The Avengers (2012), Batman (1989) and The Dark Knight (2008). The festival also features a retro sci-fi day on February 2, 2013, where fans can catch classicsBattlestar Galactica (1978), Logan's Run (1976), Flash Gordon (1980) and Tron (1982).

This year’s full lineup includes: Akira (1988), Batman (1989), Battlestar Galactica (1978), Brazil (1985), Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989), Flash Gordon (1980), Ghost in the Shell (1995), Iron Man (2008), Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), Logan’s Run (1976), Monty Python and The Holy Grail (1975), On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969), Planet of the Apes (1968), Snatch (2000), Spiderman (2002), Superman (1978), The Avengers (2012), The Dark Knight (2008), The Fisher King (1991), Thunderball (1965), and Tron (1982).
