Tonight is the opening night for the 39th edition of the Festival du nouveau cinéma. Over the next 12 days, they will be screening 295 films
from 51 countries including 33 world premieres and 64 North American
premieres. Although the festival is called "nouveau cinéma," it is the oldest film festival in Montreal.
Tonight's opening night gala will be 10½ by Daniel Grou-Podz, while the festival closes with Denis Cote’s Curling, both coming-of-age Quebec films.
