Nominations announced for the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild (MUAHS) 2016 Annual Awards


Ceremony to Take Place February 20, 2016 at Paramount Studios, Johnny Depp to Present Lifetime Achievement Awards

Nominees for the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards (MUAHS, IATSE Local 706) in 23 categories honoring make-up artists and hair stylists outstanding achievements in motion pictures, television, commercials and live theater were announced today by MUAHS President Sue Cabral-Ebert. Winners will be revealed during the black-tie annual MUAHS Guild Awards ceremony, hosted by comedian Loni Love, on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Paramount Studios. M.A.C. Cosmetics is the official host of the cocktail party.

7 features advance in race for makeup and hairstyling Oscar


The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that seven films remain in competition in the Makeup and Hairstyling category for the 88th Academy Awards®.

On Saturday, January 9, 2016, all members of the Academy's Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch will be invited to view 10-minute excerpts from each of the seven shortlisted films. Following the screenings, members will vote to nominate three films for final Oscar consideration.

2015 Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards – winners


The Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild tonight announced winners of its Annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards in 19 categories of film, television, commercials and live theater during the black-tie ceremony at the Paramount Studios Theatre. The awards took place before an audience of more than 500, including guild members, industry executives and press. MUAHS President Sue Cabral-Ebert presided over the awards ceremony with Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs) serving as host.

Golden Globe®-winner Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy)presented the Distinguished Artisan Award to his longtime friend and collaborator Guillermo Del Toro (Crimson Peak). Acclaimed director John Landis presented the Make-Up Artist Lifetime Achievement Award to Oscar®-winning make-up legend Rick Baker. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) President Cheryl Boone Isaacs presented the Hair Stylist Lifetime Achievement Award to Emmy® Award-winning hair stylist Kathryn Blondell.

Nominees Announced for Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards 2015


The Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild today announced nominations in 19 categories honoring make-up artists and hair stylists outstanding achievements in motion pictures, television, commercials and live theater.

President Sue Cabral-Ebert announced the nominations. Winners will be revealed during the black-tie 2015 Annual MUAHS Guild Awards ceremony taking place on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Paramount Studios. The MUAHS Awards after-party is courtesy of M.A.C. Cosmetics. Spirits presented will be presented by Patron Tequila.

"We are so excited to receive a record number of entries for our crafts from all over the world," said Cabral-Ebert. "The response and enthusiasm of the entertainment community was remarkable. Thanks to our dedicated committee who viewed all the submissions and made very tough choices. We are proud of our talented nominees and the work that was submitted this year representing the finest of our craft."

2014 Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards – winners

MAC Cosmetics was the Official Cocktail Reception Sponsor. The awards took place before an audience of more than 500, including guild members, industry executives and press. The Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild's President Sue Cabral-Ebert presided over the awards ceremony with actor/comedian Tom Arnold serving as host.

Johnny Depp received the Guild's Distinguished Artisan Award presented by Oscar-Winning Make-Up Artist Joel Harlow, who is currently nominated for an Academy Award for his artistry in The Lone Ranger and also worked on creating Depp's transformation in The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Oscar-winner Gail Ryan was presented with the Hair Stylists Lifetime Achievement Award by Benicio Del Toro and Rick Baker presented the Make-Up Artists Lifetime Achievement Award to Oscar-winner Dick Smith who was unable to attend.
