Cinema Audio Society Announces Nominations for the 52nd CAS Awards

The Cinema Audio Society has announced the nominees for the 52nd Annual CAS Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for 2015 in six categories and the CAS Technical Achievement Award Nominations.

“This was a year of terrific sound in both film and television,” said Mark Ulano CAS President. “These nominations represent the outstanding sound mixing being done in each category and I congratulate each of our nominees.”

Final balloting for both the Outstanding Sound Mixing and the CAS Technical Achievement Awards will open online Wednesday January 27th and end Friday, February 12th.

Cinema Audio Society's 51st CAS Awards – winners

The Cinema Audio Society Awards held their 51st CAS Awards in the Crystal Ballroom of the Los Angeles Millennium Biltmore Hotel. The event was hosted by radio personality Doug McIntyre.

The top CAS Award for Outstanding Sound Mixing Motion Picture - Live Action was presented to the sound mixing team for Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). The prize for Motion Picture - Animation went to sound mixing team for Big Hero 6.

Among other highlights, the Oscar nominated director of Boyhood Richard Linklater, received the CAS Filmmaker Award in a presentation that included remarks by Christopher Nolan, John Pritchett, CAS and Tricia Linklater. Linklater joins an impressive list of previous CAS Filmmakers Honorees including: Quentin Tarantino, Gil Cates, Bill Condon, Paul Mazursky, Henry Selick, Taylor Hackford, Rob Marshall, Jonathan Demme and Edward Zwick.

The Cinema Audio Society announces the nominees for the 51st Annual CAS Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for 2014 in six categories and the CAS Technical Achievement Award Nominations.

“This year’s nominations reflect the outstanding sound mixing being done in both film and television as determined by the voting members of the Cinema Audio Society,” said CAS President David Fluhr. “I congratulate each of the nominees on a job well-mixed.”

Final balloting for both the Outstanding Sound Mixing and the CAS Technical Achievement Awards will open online Wednesday January 21st and end Friday, February 6th.
